Self Inflicted

Self Inflicted (Book One)

To the world, seventeen year old Aurora seems like any other teenage girl looking for attention. Her short hair changes color as frequently as her mood. She doesn’t bother to hide her piercings or tattoos from the judging world of high school.

The one thing she does hide is her scars.

Aurora lost her mother to breast cancer when she was thirteen years old, leaving her workaholic father to raise the teenage girl on his own, which isn't easy since he is always away for work. Author turns to cutting to deal with the emotional pain. Full of scars from her years of self-harm, Aurora still hides her pain. The only people who know about her self-destructive behavior is her best friend Liam, who also lost a family member to cancer, and her boyfriend Erik.

Her relationship with Erik is an unhealthy as her cutting, but she doesn’t care what people say. She is in love. She justifies the abuse he does to her by something she had done to deserve it.

Barely into her senior year of high school, Aurora finds out she is pregnant. Erik had already proposed to her, and she was determined to make their relationship work. She didn't want her unborn child to know how it felt to grow up without a parent.

Just before the wedding, Liam tells Aurora that he is being deployed and tells her something she never expected to hear from him, causing her world to turn upside down.

How long will that love between Erik and Aurora last? Will Aurora continue to make excuses for Erik? Will she stop cutting? What did Liam say to her before he left?

Find out in Self Inflicted.

Scars Fade (Book Two)

Aurora’s nightmare is over. Her cutting days are behind her. Erik is in jail awaiting trial, and she is safely at home with her son, Gavin.

While in the hospital, Liam meets Gabe, another soldier who was injured overseas leaving him without a leg. Gabe becomes a good friend to both Rory and Liam and is responsible for the couple actually becoming a couple.

After about a month in the hospital, Liam is able to return home and moves in with Rory. Together, they face Erik’s trial and Rory’s divorce. Liam helps with Gavin as much as he is able to, and tells Rory he wants to adopt the child.

Join Rory and Liam as their relationship grows. Will Rory agree to the adoption? Will Liam get back on his feet? What happens to Erik?

Liam and Aislynn have been around since the beginning of Self Inflicted, but Gabe and Trent don't make their appearance until Scars Fade. Learn more about the past of these characters.

Liam was a young teenager when he lost his older brother to pancreatic cancer. Not knowing where to turn, he joined a support group for people who had lost loved ones to cancer. In the group, he met Aurora and immediately fell in love with her, but Aurora wasn't ready for a relationship. How did Liam end up with Aislynn?

Aislynn had known Aurora since elementary school, but they were never friends until Rory returned to high school after spending years being homeschooled.

Gabe was a player. He never wanted a relationship. Why should he when he could have any girl he wanted? That all changed when he met Rachel.

Trent loved his life. He could get any drug or girl he wanted, except for Tamara. When buried in the world of drugs, he did a lot of stupid things. Can he overcome his past?

Reopening Old Wounds (Book Three)

Aurora and Liam are married and expecting another child, but complications arise from internal damage caused by Erik's abuse several years ago. Trent moves from Minnesota to be with Aislynn and Gabe sees no point in staying in his home town with his brother gone. He makes the move to Rory and Liam's basement to help Rory during her pregnancy.

Gabe is fighting his own demons. It has been over three years since the last time he had seen Rachel when she appears at the ice rink with a young boy who looks just like Gabe. Is he the father? Why didn't Rachel tell him sooner? Will he give her another chance?

Erik is released from prison. Will he go after Rory with Gabe and Trent hanging around? Will he move on and forget about the woman he spent four years behind bars for?

It was actually difficult to finish this series. I had come to love Rory and Liam so much, I just didn't want to give them up!
